About us

Scouting has been in our area for about 100 years but 1st Theale Scout Troop wasn’t officially registered with the Scout Association until after the Second World War in 1947.

Many years later a Cub Scout Pack opened in the Calcot area. As the area developed and grew, so did the demand for scouting. Within the last 20 years, Scouting in Theale and Calcot merged and became 1st Theale & Calcot Scout Group and has grown substantially to three Beaver Colonies, three Cub Packs, two Scout Troops and a District Explorer Unit.

We run our evenings from the local village halls and community centres, as well as taking advantage of the great places to explore in and around our local area.

We are one of ten neighbouring Scout Groups that make up the Pang Valley District.
